The Sparta City Fire Department has served the citizens of Sparta since 1879. The Sparta City Fire Department recently merged with Erv's Rural Fire Department to form The Sparta Area Fire District. The District now consists of nearly 55 members who come from all parts of the community. With three stations consisting of six engines, three brush trucks, three tankers, four equipment vehicles, one 100 foot platform truck and a rescue squad, the Department responds to an average of 125 calls per service year within the City.

Are you at least 18 years of age, responsible, enjoy teamwork, and want to make a difference in your community? The Sparta Area Fire Department is seeking paid on call Firefighters to join our ranks!
Meetings are held on the 1st Monday of the month and trainings are held on the 3rd Monday of the month. No experience needed, training is paid for and provided to applicants when available through the local technical college. Prior firefighting training is preferred but not required.
