The Zoning Board of Appeals is setup to appeal building or zoning decisions made by the Building Inspector. According to State law, the appeal must be based upon a hardship and not an exception to the local ordinance or building code. If no hardship exist, a variance cannot be granted. In that case, the filer needs to change the rule either through State legislation or City ordinance. The Zoning Board of Appeals meets on an as needed basis. Members are appointed by the Mayor to 3 year terms.
