The Sparta Police Department is looking for outstanding candidates to fill an open full-time patrol officer position and create an eligibility list for future openings. In addition to special assignment opportunities within the department, successful candidates can look forward to an in-depth field training program, progressive officer-development training throughout their career and a new police department building slated for 2021. There is also earning potential through overtime availability, lateral transfer packages, a medical and dental benefits package, a 12 hour work schedule with every-other 3 day weekend off and a family-like atmosphere among department members.
Successful candidates must be 18 years old, hold a valid driver’s license, have a good driving record, be in good physical condition, hold at least 60 college credits, have the ability to possess a firearm with no felony or domestic abuse convictions, be eligible for Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board Certification (outstanding candidates will be considered prior to eligibility), have good written and verbal communication skills, react quickly and effectively to stressful situations and be able to handle several tasks simultaneously.
