The property tax burden is redistributed after the market update based on all properties being assessed to fair market value.
How to Review and Discuss Your Assessment
If you have questions about your new assessment, you are encouraged to participate in Open Book through Accurate Assessor, LLC.
» Email Open Book: Visit accurateassessor.com, click "Open Book Assistant," complete the form, and select email response. An assessor will reply via email.
» In-Person Open Book: Attend an Open Book session at Sparta City Hall at 201 W Oak Street.
» Appointments are highly encouraged. Appointments available at accurateassessor.com, click "Open Book Assistant."
We strongly encourage you to use the Open Book period for any questions or objections. Signing up early ensures you and the assessor have sufficient time for review and discussion of your assessment.

Board of Review - Formal Process
If you disagree with your assessment after your Open Book discussion, you may file an appeal with the Board of Review:
» Deadline to File an Objection: Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at 4:00 p.m.
» Board of Review: The Board of Review will be held at City Hall (201 W Oak Street) on Thursday, August 13, 2026 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Do not wait until Board of Review to talk with an assessor. You have the opportunity to discuss your opinion of value prior to filing a Form of Objection with the clerk.
If you cannot come to an agreement of value, a written/oral intent to object must be filed with the City Clerk at least 48 hours prior to the Board of Review. A PA-115A form with your opinion of value must be filed with the clerk in order to attend the Board of Review. You can drop off or mail your form to:
