License Information and Applications

 

The City Clerk's office is responsible for issuing the majority of the licenses in the City of Sparta. Completed forms can be returned to City Hall at 201 W. Oak St during business hours or in the drop box on the east side of The City of Sparta building after hours. Paper applications are located in office or below for your review.

 

Applications for all licenses are required to complete to a background check and the fee to complete the background check is $25. Application must be submitted to the City Clerk 15 days prior to being forwarded to the Public Safety Committee. The Public Safety Committee reviews the applications on the first Monday of the first full week of each month at 5:30 p.m. They make a recommendation to the City Council. The City Council grants the license and meets on the second Wednesday of the second full week of each month.

Operator/Bartender License  $60.00 (prorated 2-year license)
Class A Liquor $500.00
Class A Beer $250.00
Class B Beer - Contact City Clerk $100.00

Reserve Class B - Contact City Clerk $10,000.00
Class C Wine $100.00
Video Games $10.00 (each)
Mobile Home Park $2.00 (per space)
Cigarette, Tobacco, Electronic Vaping $100.00
Secondhand Article Dealer  $27.50
Secondhand Jewelry Dealer $30.00
Pawnbroker License $210.00

Taxicab $50.00 (1st vehicle) | $25.00 (for each additional)
