The City of Sparta has created the Housing Rehabilitation Loan Program for use in rehabilitating owner occupied homes for low, and moderate, income residents. The program is designed to provide qualified homeowners with a no-interest, deferred payment home repair loan. In general, eligible rehab activities include only work necessary to put the property into habitable, safe, and sanitary condition.
Ineligible repairs include:
» Cosmetic landscaping
» Furnishing
» Appliances
» Finishing of unfinished spaces
» Repairs to accessory buildings
It is designed to provide qualified homeowners with a no-interest, deferred payment home repair loan up to $20,000. There are eligibility requirements and qualifying repairs, including the property must be located within the City of Sparta municipal limits.
